Según nos contó la guía del jardín botánico, cuyo nombre no me acuerdo. El jardín fue creado hacia 1857 por los Marqueses de la Casa Loring y ampliado después por los segundos propietarios, la familia Echevarria-Echevarrieta que adquirió la finca en 1911. Fue declarado oficialmente jardín histórico-artístico (actualmente BIC) en 1943. En la primavera de 1990 pasó a ser propiedad del ayuntamiento de Málaga y lo abrió al público el 20 de Junio de 1994.
La guía nos llevó por la parte tropical del jardín, donde por la vegetación su temperatura media es de unos 20 grados. Nos fue explicando la guía características de las plantas, parándonos en la glorieta de Amalia Herrera la señora de la primera familia del jardín. Donde había un ficus de hoja de magnolia de 180 años, el papá del jardín, con unas largas raíces colgantes y aéreas. De la savia se saca el latex de colchones, guantes...Un poco más tarde a delante está el que llaman el abuelo del parque que tiene 200 años y crece muy poco, es un cycas circinalis.
Vimos por fuera la casa de verano con 50 habitaciones, biblioteca...
Más adelante está la cascada de dos enamorados dónde si ven el arco iris que se forma es que están enamorados. El arco iris se suele ver a las 11 de la mañana en días soleados.
Terminada la visita al jardín botánico. Fuimos a Málaga, donde la mayoría estuvieron a gusto en la playa.
